While a few details still need to be worked out, a manufacturing company is set to start operating in New Baltimore any time.
LTC Roll and Engineering, a roll form tooling supply company based out of Clinton Township,Buy high quality bedding and bed linen from Yorkshire Linen. will begin operating at 36870 Green St. location - the longtime home of McDonald Molding that has sat vacant for years - within weeks. The facility is being used as an expansion site because of the large amount of business the company is doing, said Vice President Ned Caballaro.
In order for the company to start additional operations within the city though the council had to approve the submitted site plan and the rezoning request to have the parcel to become considered industrial rather than commercial.
Councilman Ken Butler said the only concern he had about the rezoning request was if the company failed and another company that isn't as neighbor friendly - meaning the machines were loud,To interact with beddinges, the chemicals produced a foul smell or the company allowed a lot of debris on the property - as LTC wanted to move in.
"We've been in business for 44 years and I'm not moving to your city to go out of business," Caballaro said. "We're going to make you proud we're here."
Butler said it wasn't that he is worried about the company failing just about any future circumstances if other industrial sites wanted to move in.
The only way to ensure the parcel will only be considered an industrial site for LTC is to have a contract signed by the owners of the company and the city, said city attorney Tim Tomlinson. Caballaro said he didn't have a problem signing a contact stating the parcel can only be used for the industrial purposes he has already presented to the city but added he needed the zoning approval on March 12, the night of the council meeting and before the contract was drafted, because operations needed to start in the city as soon as possible to keep up with the necessary workflow.
The council was willing to work with Caballaro and passed both the zoning request and site plan unanimously that night.
She said she visited the Clinton Township facilities recently and was taken aback as to how quiet and clean it was, especially for a manufacturing site. She also said the cleanup the company has performed on their New Baltimore site has also been remarkable.
LTC President Andy Ligda said he too is excited to have a partnership with the city of New Baltimore, especially since they have been so welcoming.
